In the heart of downtown Grand Rapids, at 86 Monroe Center, BCBSM is offering a highly visible ArtPrize location. The space is located in the entrance of the Steketee’s Building foyer, behind a clear glass wall.
The B.O.B. (an acronym for Big Old Building) is located in downtown Grand Rapids. The 70,000-square-foot, four- story, red brick building was constructed in 1903 as Judson's grocery warehouse. Its casual appeal, large size and historic charm have given The B.O.B. landmark / destination status in downtown Grand Rapids. The private entrance of Plaza Towers is located at the corner of Fulton and Monroe. The towers is the only highrise located in the heart of downtown Grand Rapids. This modern building is handicapped accesible. The lobby area as well as the Monroe room is tranformed into a high end exhibit space for ArtPrize 2013.
The Backside of the HNI Building. The front of the building faces Monroe Center & Rosa Parks Circle, the back of the building faces Monroe & Waters Building. An Ellis outdoor parking lot runs along the side/back of the HNI Building. The building has a blue HNI Sign on the front (see the picture) and the back of the building has 2 white brick pillars that are available for a mural (see picture). Currently there is a butterfly mural on one of the pillars. This will need to get repainted by the artist prior to beginning. On the ground floor of this building is the Hot Dog Pit and Sami's. This is right above an Ellis Parking lot-artist may need to block off a few parking spaces while painting.
Located at the the corner of Monroe Center and Division, we have created a multi-purpose space that is residential in feel compared to the traditional Haworth and Interphase office scene. This has been an opportunity for Haworth and Interphase members to work, collaborate, and engage in the downtown Grand Rapids landscape.Join us during ArtPrize as we showcase art in our renovated historic windows.
Take just one step inside the First Community Bank building, with its splendid works of architecture, and it becomes apparent the structure has a long and rich history. The 13 story, Greek Revival-style building dates back to the early 1900’s. It held the title of “Tallest building in Grand Rapids” until 1925 when Grand Rapids National Bank (now McKay Tower) added twelve stories to overshadow 60 Monroe Center by 3 floors. Easy walking, parking and bus stops.
Kilwins Chocolates & Ice Cream is located in the historic McKay Towers building with frontage facing Monroe Center and directly across from Rosa Park Circle. Federal Buildings are public buildings, meant to be enjoyed and utilized by the people of this nation. ArtPrize presents a unique opportunity to encourage people to visit the Federal Building and stroll the grounds to view the artwork. On permanent display on the west lawn is the large sculpture Motu Viget by Mark DiSuvero.
Located in the heart of Downtown Grand Rapids within the entertainment district, the Downtown Courtyard by Marriott is nearby DeVos Place Convention Center, Van Andel Arena and dozens of cultural attractions, restaurants and night clubs.
