Zach Mory comes from the small, rural town of Cottage Grove, just outside of Madison, WI. Initially trained in life drawing, his work slowly turned towards the abstract and non-objective possibilities of drawing as his undergraduate schooling continued at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Currently, his work has veered back into realism, portraiture, and Magic Realism. In the spring of 2008, he received his MFA from UW-Madison, with a concentration in drawing. He has shown his work extensively around the US and awards include the jurors choice award for the 74th Rockford Art Museum Biennial in 2015, best-in-show for the 6th Anniversary show at Water Street Studios, a finalist for the Celeste Award in Milan, IT, a top-five juror's pick at Artprize in 2014 for his work 24 Circles and Diamonds, and a recipient of two Artist Seed Grants, one in 2015 and 2017. His work has also been featured in New American Paintings (Midwest, issue 95), Studio Visit Magazine twice, The Dialogist, ElevenEleven, and Starry Night's Artist's To Look Out For among other publications.
