Wayne is a creator of portraits primarily in color pencil and graphite. His preferred subject is the human face but also enjoys drawing animals and has many commissioned portraits of both people and or their pets to his credit. Hyper realism is his passion and he spends hundreds of hours in deep concentration, listening to music of mostly rock and classical genres as he brings his subjects to life. Wayne lives in Caledonia with his wife Chantal. Together they own Merizon Studio, a custom picture framing and fine art print business in the former studio of the late Grand Rapids artist, Armand Merizon, Chantal's father. Wayne also works full time at Spectrum Butterworth Hospital in downtown Grand Rapids, where he had the opportunity to meet Mr. Wells, a fixture of the hospital who would walk the halls and give a kind word to people he would encounter in the days before the pandemic. Wayne, intrigued by Mr. Wells daily routine and kind face, asked for permission to make a portrait of the gentleman.
