The twenty ArtPrize entries at the Has Heart venue in Veterans Memorial Park feature the veterans’ struggle with homelessness, PTSD, military sexual trauma, and veteran suicide. During the current pandemic, we have all felt a bit of the veterans’ sense of isolation and loneliness. But we can learn from the perseverance and resilience represented in this diverse group of officer and enlisted vets. Despite their injuries or lack of artistic training, this new type of ArtPrize venue gives veterans a voice through the collaboration of story, struggle, and healing art.

MCC is an emerging Christian faith community whose mission is “Love God, Love People, Love the City.” As image-bearers of the Creator, we seek to honor God through celebrating the creative talents of our members, friends, and the community. We embrace and encourage the arts through various community events and activities. Each year for ArtPrize, we conduct a series of worship services based upon themes generated by selected art that we host. We typically have an opening reception, an open-mic artist night, and can host special receptions for a small fee. We typically host many K-12 school class trips at our venue, and our exhibits are typically appropriate for children. We are accessible, have a drinking fountain, restrooms, and have a mom's nursing space available. In 2017, MCC was one of the 5 finalists for Outstanding Venue, and have twice hosted a jury finalist. For 2021, we are in a new building at 1020 Monroe NW.
