The General Services Administration has had a long history of incorporating art into Federal Buildings. GSA commissions American artists to create publicly scaled and permanently installed artworks for Federal Buildings nationwide. The incorporation of contemporary art within the nation's important civic spaces celebrates the best of American culture and exemplifies how democratic societies benefit immeasurably from the unique, creative talents of individual citizens. Federal Buildings are public buildings, meant to be enjoyed and utilized by the people of this nation. ArtPrize presents a unique opportunity to encourage people to visit the Federal Building and stroll the grounds to view the artwork. On permanent display on the west lawn is the large sculpture Motu Viget by Mark DiSuvero.

This is a picture of a previous installation. It was paper mache and eventually went away, but we are open to a permanent exhibit. We are only interested in an outdoor exhibit as we are a 8-5pm business. This is a perfect venue for exterior building painting/mosaic/etc. Feel free to use the whole building (parking lot in back) or a rooftop installation would work too. We are located across from the library, and GRCC and next to the Spectrum Theater. We will be celebrating our 30th anniversary with an open house on September 30th!

The twenty ArtPrize entries at the Has Heart venue in Veterans Memorial Park feature the veterans’ struggle with homelessness, PTSD, military sexual trauma, and veteran suicide. During the current pandemic, we have all felt a bit of the veterans’ sense of isolation and loneliness. But we can learn from the perseverance and resilience represented in this diverse group of officer and enlisted vets. Despite their injuries or lack of artistic training, this new type of ArtPrize venue gives veterans a voice through the collaboration of story, struggle, and healing art.
