Valerie received her BFA from University of Cincinnati and her studio is in Midland, MI. As a certified working artist for Golden Artist Colors, she gives lectures in the Midwest on acrylic painting. She is a teaching curator at Studio 23 in Bay City and has a teaching history with the Alden B. Dow Museum of Science and Art, Wave Pool Gallery in Cincinnati, Ohio, and art associations throughout the Midwest. Valerie has exhibited nationally in the Chicago Biennial, New American Drawing in Santa Fe, National Collage Society Exhibit at Montserrat College of Art, “Heart Rate-The Artistic Pulse of Post-Industrial Michigan” at Buckham Gallery,“From Margin to Center: Explorations in Mixed Media”at Central Michigan University. At the 47th Greater Michigan Art Exhibit at Midland Center for the Arts, she received Award of Merit from juror Karl Umlauf, of Baylor University. She was selected into ArtFutura 2013, 2014, 2016 where she received Honorable Mention by James Rondeau, curator of Contemporary Art and now the Director of the Art Institute of Chicago. She exhibited at Woman Made gallery in 2014 and Project Gallery, Arts Miami in 2015. Currently she is a solo artist at Midland Center for the Arts and is represented with Blink in Cincinnati, Ohio. As a participant of Artprize, she has shown at: 2009-Amway Grand, 2010 and 2012 Cathedral Square, 2011 St. Cecilia Music Center, 2013 Fifth Third Center, 2014 Cathedral Square, 2015 (106) Gallery-Calvin College, 2016, 2017 City Water Building-Richard App Gallery. Valerie has served as a juror for many exhibitions in the Midwest, most recently the Michigan Annual at Anton Art Center in Mt. Clemons, Michigan.
