chirp 200 Le Dejeuner watercolor on paper, mounted on wood, kamar spray varnished framed. 38.5x51.75 2012 I've been painting this particular series of birds titled the "chirp" series for 5 years now. I started as a figure painter who's mission was to create the "feeling truth" of the figure as well as an semi-recognizable and abstracted form. My true strength was in the watercolors, I started, piece by piece, copying the acrylic figures into watercolors and have been experimenting and adapting that technique since. This particular chirp painting was a milestone number for me and I decided to push my boundaries of size in my watercolors. I named the piece after the long tradition of "luncheon" paintings in our art history to suggest the feeling of relaxation, feasting and togetherness.
