Timothy Norris and Patricia Opel have collaborated on large-scale paintings for over twenty years. These pieces often utilize Michigan history and Great Lakes shipwreck narratives as conceptual points of departure and are influenced by the European tradition of history painting in which the artwork serves as a commentary on the human condition. Their paintings have been featured in the traveling show "Through a Crack in the Lake" seen at venues throughout Michigan and the Midwest. Norris and Opel are West Michigan artist-educators with an extensive history of exhibitions. Timothy is currently an instructor of art at Muskegon Community College and Patricia is the owner of Kook's Eye Gallery in Pentwater, MI. Patricia is a 1984 alum of WMU where she also served as an academic advisor and adjunct instructor in the art department from 1988 to 1995. Timothy also taught at WMU as an adjunct assistant professor.
