Although now in my 50th year of painting, my body of work has changed much in the past few years since my return to college. I have exchanged some of my self taught comfortable habits for academic insights and focuses. More importantly, for the past 8 years I have been (as Thoreau put it) going confidently in the direction of my dreams and living the life I have always imagined. I have learned that unwavering persistence and dedication will in deed be met with success. I started doing this mainly to encourage my children to continue pursuits outside of their careers, but have found selfish satisfaction in my results. My work can be classified in many ways... Post-Modern Realism, Figurative, Precisionism, Pre-Raphaelette - but in the end, and with my decided direction at my new school (Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design [MIAD]), I would like to be known for Surrealism. I am very active with my art- living the motto ‘Nulla Dies Sine Linea,’ never a day without a line; painting every day and completing works on average every 3 weeks. After retiring from Monsanto, Inc. in St. Louis, where I worked as a data architect, I have spent the past few years perusing a bachelors degree in Fine Arts, and most recently began attending classes at MIAD.
