Thom is a Chicago native, presently residing in Chicago on the City's far southwest side. He attended the American Academy of Art, also in Chicago. There he studied graphic design and photography. Professionally, he has been a senior designer for an international corporation for over 25 years. Recently Thom's public art piece "Drawing the line on global warming" was one of twelve "Cool Globes" on exhibit at New York City's Battery Park, after extended travel throughout the U.S.A. His second Cool Globe "Get In The Game" was featured and sponsored by the S. F. Giants and exhibited outside their ball park. Thom's winning design, also graces the 2003 Illinois State Quarter, part of the U.S. Mints 50 State Quarter program. Thom's work has been exhibited at the following Artprize venues: Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum, Grand Rapids Public Museum, The B.O.B. and the Woman's City Club/The Sweet House.
