Originally from Royal Oak, MI, Tammie came to Grand Rapids after earning her bachelor's degree in Fine Art from Eastern Michigan University. Majoring in Painting with a minor in Graphic Design, she developed her design skills within the printing field before becoming the director of graphics at Kentwood Community Church where she has served for the past 16 years. Always a painter at heart, Tammie found opportunities to continue painting over the years as she worked on set design for the church along with various personal projects. Returning for the second consecutive year, her entry in this year's ArtPrize, once again combines her love of visual expression through painting with her faith. While last year's entry focused on God's view of women as the strong, bold, faithful and courageous image-bearers He created them to be, this year's painting explores the role of the fall/the enemy within the over-arching, epic story of God.
