My name is Stacy Pearson. I am a working artist living near the lakeshore in Grand Haven with my family. I love everything about being a botanical illustrator, sometime abstract painter, and full time student of the outdoors. I am outside daily, and consider flowers to be one of nature's greatest mysteries. This year my inspiration combines the beauty of the earth with the beauty of the womanhood. I will be presenting a self portrait with symbolism that honors every woman who has and those who continue to make me the woman I am today. These amazing female powerhouses are represented by the elements of earth, blooms, and ocean that adorn the cloak I am wearing. Included will be a wink and a nod to the magic that is the mystery in womanhood seen in flecks of gold and butterflies throughout. I was trained as a scientific illustrator at the University of Michigan, received my MA from the University of Oklahoma. I lived abroad for five years while my husband served in the military, at which time I taught for the military schools. After returning to the states, and bringing two crazy gorgeous kiddos into the world, I rededicated myself to art as a career and the rest is history. Drawing is me. It is my way to connect to the world both physically and spiritually. I work as an artist around the state, showing at galleries and collaborating with clients on projects such as the development of stationary lines, university sponsored education programs, and furnishing exhibits to nature centers. Thank you so very much for your consideration, and I hope to see you at Art Prize 2017!
