Sofía is best known for her sharp wit and commitment to endurance. The drawings in her ongoing project "Sofía Draws Every Day" show the world what the life of one queer, immigrant of color living in West Michigan is like. Sofía shares her project of vulnerability on social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook, furthering the exhibitionism; hopefully inspiring others to open up or feel less alone. Sofía showed the first year of this project at Saugatuck Center for the Arts, where she worked with migrant children as an artist in residence for Growing Young Artists. Sofía was born in Mexico City, and later moved to the suburbs of Metro Detroit with her parents and sister, where she developed her skills in drawing and painting. She relocated to Grand Rapids to earn a BFA in drawing with a focus in printmaking, and a minor in painting in 2014. Using the leadership and organizational skills picked up as co-president emeritus of Collective Pressure (KCAD's printmaking club), Sofía is now an after school teacher, art instructor, illustrator for hire, triathlete, cheeseburger aficionado, and radical activist in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
