Sheri Moore is someone who has never been satisfied, someone with many irons in the fire, an "All or Nothing" type A, who started painting after inheriting an easel, a bag of brushes, pack of cheap canvas and some hobby paint from her father. She’s been fortunate and is thankful for growing up in a typical loving middle class, catholic, blue-collar family. She is happily married with a “wonderful” son. She is a graduate of Saginaw Valley State University and works full time as an account manager. She shares a studio with 3 fellow abstract artists, Kathy Jones, Denise Ardis and Rochelle Aultman, her artist tribe. Her inspiration comes from human interaction and personal experience especially travel. “I paint by feel; by trusting my gut, the exact same way I have operated my whole life. I trust my instincts.” She says “Making something from nothing is extremely satisfying.” Her process starts with a fresh canvas and the creation of layers. Layers of cardboard, tissue paper, newspaper, plaster, screen, any objects that seem to offer the feeling she is looking for, to fill the canvas with interest. Throughout the process, she removes pieces, moves them to other places and continues to develop the piece. She works fast, that is why she likes acrylic medium, patience doesn’t seem to always suit her. Her pieces have a lot going on, marks are made throughout the process, often on several paintings at once.
