Florals are sort of a way of life to me. What I mean by that, is, when you look at a flower, you see, smell, and feel something. I have been so inspired by flowers in all of their forms, I love a pop of color they create in a mostly dead field. They can be wild and aimless, or deliberately given as a celebration. In a whimsy way that is how I feel about botanicals and florals, they are delicate, every little petal is different. They are a pop of joy, or a moment of beauty. They speak life to me. My three daughters have been my ongoing inspiration of my pops of color and joy, Daisy, Maple, and Rosie. I am proud to be their momma and hope my three works of joy will make you feel light and bright. I hope they compel you to look up and live a little softer, and more delicately. Just as the watercolor interacts with the canvas to create something soft and vibrant, and deliberate. I work mostly with watercolor, acrylic, india ink, oils, and pretty much anything I can get my hands on. I have always had a passion for art as my grandma is an artist and has been teaching me ever since I could pick up a brush. I work with bright colors, to really bring life to my pieces. My work has evolved into becoming more impressionistic as I am inspired by the natural places and wild spaces. I have been compelled by the beauty and simplicity of the outdoors and the natural world. What I love about painting is that I get to look at the world and feature the beauty in a unique way. I get to bring an idea to life and to share bit of joy with others. The world needs it! Besides being an artist I am also a mom, a wife, a gatherer of people, Jesus follower who loves hiking, coffee, the beach and travel. I surprising love the chaotic juggle of being an artist. What an honor to be able to share my work with you all! Shelbykregel.com or @shelbykregel to follow along my story!
