I started out as a 2D artist, working in primarily pen & ink, as well as doing graphic design for an advertising agency. I won some local awards at art shows with my drawings, and placed 4th and then first in an international computer design competition. I took a jewelry class on a whim, which lead me to a new passion. I've been creating jewelry using the lost wax method for the past 24 years, and teaching the process for the past 20 years. With my jewelry I have had a solo show at The Midland Center for the Arts, have had works published in Lapidary Journal and have a piece featured in book entitled "CAST". Four years ago I began studying under Armin Mersmann, an internationally respected graphite artist, and under his tutelage my skills have grown exponentially, resulting in a renewed passion for drawing. I have always done a lot of sketching in preparation for the creation of my jewelry, but it had been just a preliminary step. I am now focusing on taking that original design in two different directions; one being the creation of a piece of jewelry, the other a finished drawing.
