Shane Evans is a self-taught artist, sculptor, fabricator and backyard engineer. He has been exploring different techniques with metals, plastics and found objects for over twenty years. Much of his inspiration comes from the materials themselves and how he finds balance within them. Much of his work involves welding and fabrication with steel, often incorporating elements of wood, glass and resins. He has created numerous projects over the years, ranging from furniture, lamps and large outdoor sculptures to interior design work, bicycles and motorcycles. His latest series of various sized robots utilizes salvaged metal parts ranging in size and scale from to airplane pieces and washer/dryer drums. Shane resides and works in Denver, Colorado and has shown his work in Florida, New York, Los Angeles and many towns across Colorado. In 2000, Shane was commissioned by the Summit County Arts Council to build a large outdoor sculpture for a public plaza in Dillon, Colorado. He continues to build large work and is always striving to push boundaries and challenge his skillset, adding new elements to his pieces, such as kinects with the use of motors, pneumatics and fire.
