The Forest at Night

This is a series of three black and white photographs taken in a forest just after dusk. I used a long exposure and movement to create abstract images. The photographs show elements of the woods that are familiar, but through their abstractness we also feel an unknown. This effect mirrors an actual wood during the night. The combination of known and unknown creates a mixture of emotions. During the project, I personally felt curiosity and wonder at the sights and sounds, but was also very uneasy and defensive of my surroundings in the dark. I wanted to capture this feeling in my images, and I believe I was successful.
