According to Freud dreams were a means to tap into unconscious levels of the mind and provided opportunity to investigate oneself on an unveiled level. Carl Jung believed that dreams become a way of communicating and are a window into the unconscious. The dream models of both Freud and Jung impart principles of symbolism that guide us in the physical world. Inspired by these ideas, the artists explore the metaphors and symbolic imagery pulled from the unconscious state of dreaming. Using a combination of alternate transparent materials, selected text and symbols from Jung and Freud we create ethereal objects that contrast the veiling and unveiling of the transition from the realm of dreams into the physical world. These ethereal vessels enclose archival texts from these iconic theorists to reveal dreams and beliefs that float toward the periphery of consciousness. Being both accessible and inaccessible they allude to the illusive nature of dreams which may be recollected or lost.
