Connecting with others visually, encouraging introspection, inspiring, or simply entertaining is my goal. I strive to provide captivating works full of energy that evoke an emotional connection with my viewer. Each piece is intended to elicit a certain response. I have an inner drive to create which I've honed since my childhood. My dream is to be a full time oil painter. I know this is a dream held by many, and attained by few, but I am going to achieve it. I am an award winning artist with a BFA from Aquinas College in Liberal Arts and an AFA from Kendall College of Art & Design in Visual Communications. I currently work as an Independent Artist, Photographer, and as an Art Instructor. Although my passion is painting, I am also a contributing photographer for Cascade Life Magazine, give private art instruction to all ages, and teach through Kendall's Continuing Studies program. My artwork has been in ARTPRIZE 2016, 2015, 2013, and 2011. Of past entries; "Reflection from Within" was in Festival, the Michigan Juried show in Muskegon, and Art Walk Central. "The Smile that Lies" was in Festival. "Reconciling with Self" was recognized and honored in Lansing. My collection “Trip of Our Youth” went on to win the First Place People’s Choice Award at Art Walk Central 2014 and is currently on display at the Salvation Army Kroc Center in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Also, you can visit my triptych "Inspiration" a 4' x 11' oil on canvas intended for teens, permanently installed at St. Robert of Newmister Parish in Ada, MI. I aspire to visually transport my viewer, and to engage the senses. Hopefully, the viewer will arrive at a unique destination.” ~ Rosanne Coty
