Chicago-based artist Roland Oria is fascinated by the principles of classicism and realism. While best known for his work in charcoal and acrylic, Roland enjoys stretching the boundaries of traditionally accepted media, adding materials such as asphalt, pearl, ash and rust to his repertoire. A recipient of the 2010 CADA Choice Award presented at Chicago’s inaugural Art Loop Open, Roland’s artwork has been exhibited both in the United States and the United Kingdom, and is represented in collections as far flung as the American University in Cairo and the Elysian Hotel in Chicago. Roland graduated from the acclaimed School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1992, specializing in painting and drawing, and is now art director of one of Chicago’s leading scenic art studios.
