At a very early age, I was influenced by my mother and grandfather in the direction of art. Throughout all of my working years, I studied art. I was a meat manager before I was hired by the SD Highway Patrol where I served 20 years until I retired. On the day of my retirement, I turned in my car, gave up my badge and started my life as a professional sculptor. As a hobby, I had in previous years started carving in wood, but soon desired more of a timeless art form without size limitations and more of a creative challenge than I had found in wood. I achieved this all in stone! I first discovered marble and this was the beginning of my passion for carving in stone. Over the past 22 years, since my retirement, I have specialized in the human bust which, carved in stone, has created quite a stir across the land! My wife, Joyce, and I have displayed in 35 states, where I have received numerous rewards and we continually hear, "I have NEVER seen anything like this!" My main interest is the human subject. My signature style is the realistic skin texture, the speaking mouth and engaging eyes. My motto is: It's only a stone until it speaks to me!
