An art conservator in private practice for nearly 20 years, Peter Schoenmann works primarily in the study and repair of damaged paintings. Schoenmann has restored thousands of works at Parma Conservation, the Chicago-based laboratory where he co-directs. These range from European Old Masters and Impressionism, American Modern and Outsider art, and hundreds of murals across the United States, including frescoes in the United States Capitol. Raised in the picturesque river valley of Spring Green, WI, Schoenmann began oil painting at the age of 8 when nuns at his parochial school saw he was gifted and began to send him to the local high school for art classes. He holds a BFA in painting from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design.
