I am interested in painting color relationships that create depth on a canvas. Exploring these combinations allow me to create a mood or an emotion. Each new series I develop is a focused reaction to a personal experience in my life. These abstract paintings were created to cope with an ambiguous world and time in my life. It was reflective of my search to solve a puzzle, pitting shapes and colors against one another with the hope that make sense. Needing grounding, even if only on canvas, gave a sense of completion once all the pieces fit. The forms and marks made represent clarity, uncertainty, balance and instability. How they can all occur simultaneously in the same world and inform each other to make a complete painting.
