"Illustrations that entice the viewer into taking a closer look at some of the things that may have become commonplace." Serious whimsy, and once described as "Children's illustrations for adults." Paul spent 33 years as an art instructor in the Holland Public School system. During this chapter of his life he was able to do some of his own work for commissions, solo exhibits and competitions, while also performing the many tasks required of a teacher. Now that he has retired from a rewarding career in education he's been able to invest more time and energy into drawing. It has been a dream of his to do a series of large, detailed drawings that tell a story, specifically as an entry into ArtPrize. While he's earned dozens of awards, and had his work exhibited across the United States, this has been a project he's only now been able to pursue. ArtPrize is a unique exhibit and this series of drawings would be an engaging work for the ArtPrize audience. Though a significant portion of his time is invested into this project, Paul is also a proud father, grandfather, and a musician in a couple of bands. His love of animals, nature and humor are clearly represented in his work.
