Dryad's Long Winter

I concentrate on sculpting the figure and depending on what I'm trying to express determines whether it will look realistic or not. I am striving to evolve personally and through my art. Part of this evolution is using flight or birds integrated into the sculpture as a symbol of freedom. The wings I add are those of a bird, not an angel though they are sometimes nascent. Birds have wings to soar above the earth, using their will as direction, yet need to be grounded to survive. I like to visualize my figures as being half human, half bird as I feel a connection to birds and their ability to soar at a moments notice. A bird lifts its wings to soar above the earth, using the wind for direction, yet it has to be of this earth to survive, just like me.
