My work consists of mixed media installations, photography, storytelling, and public art, embodying themes from mythology, place and memory. For over thirty years I have worked towards re-imagining an experience, weaving together an intimate space with a fusion of magic and fantasy. Exploratory and variable, many of my projects address the ephemeral qualities of life. Various subjects range from the essence of time and place as it pertains to natural environments, dreams and superstition. Grants and fellowships include the Ohio Arts Council Artists and Communities Grant, Memorial Foundation for Jewish Culture Fellowship, Ohio Arts Council Grant, Sculpture Space, NY Artist Residency, National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship, Artists Space Special Projects Grant, NYC, Broadway Windows Project Grant, NYC. My work is in the public domain, non-profit venues, museums, galleries, and private collections internationally. Collections include the Progressive Corporation, Peter B. Lewis Aquatic Center, the Menorah Park Foundation, Thomas Jefferson Foundation, KA Architects, MBNA, and private collections (see Awards and Collections at pamelaheller.com). Selected collaborations include the Children's Museum, NYC, American Movie Classics, Connoisseur Magazine, NYC, Danube in the Metro, Budapest, and others (see pamelaheller.com). Apprenticeship with land-based installation artists for the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, New York.
