Nick Kline (Born 1968, Spring Lake, NJ) received his MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art and his BFA from the University of the Arts. Kline has won several awards including the 2015 Frey Foundation Seed Grant; 2012 finalist in NATT & DAG Magazine’s, Norway, National Book of the Year Award; and the 2011 Emergency Grant, Foundation for Contemporary Art. His recent Stripes for St. Joseph, created with Site:Lab in Grand Rapids, MI, was shortlisted by Installation jurors for ArtPrize 2015. Selected solo exhibitions include: R. Jampol Projects, New York, NY (2014); Occurrence Gallery, Montreal, Canada (2014); Prosjektrom Normanns, Stavanger, Norway (2012); Berlinskej Model, Prague, Czech Republic (2014); Open Source Gallery, Brooklyn, NY (2012); Uno Art Space, Stuttgart, Germany (2008); and Momenta Art, Brooklyn, NY (1999). His work has been reviewed in The New York Times, The New Yorker, ArtPapers, Hyperallergic, The Philadelphia Inquirer, Time-Out NY, The PhotoReview, Frankfurter Rundschau Magazine, among others. In 2014, Kline was Artist-in-Residence at Artexte, Montreal, Canada, as well as the Center for Contemporary Arts, Prague, Czech Republic. Kline currently resides in New York City.
