Imelda Marco, the former extravagant First Lady of the Philippines, had a collection of 3000 pairs of shoes that sparked my imagination to create this textile art piece. Each shoe displayed in its "lit" cubicle is fodder for a fantasy life. My intent for this piece is for it to eventually find a home in a health facility to serve as a distraction to women waiting for "procedures". It offers a momentary escape from reality ... a moment to dream of where each of these shoes could be worn and the dress that would go with them. It's constructed in a collage technique with fabric, oil stick pastel, paint, and stitching.
