Michael Henry was born and raised in Michigan. He received both his B.F.A. and M.F.A. from Eastern Michigan University in 1972 and 1975 respectively. It was at the university that he had the opportunity to study sculpture with John Pappas and renown British sculptor, John Mills. During this time, he developed an avid interest in clay modeling and bronze casting. In 1976, he moved to the Memphis, Tennessee area, where he and a friend built a foundry, one of the few in the Mid-South which casts metal sculptures. Mr. Henry's sculpture studio is located in Earle, Arkansas. He has exhibited his sculptures in New York City, New Orleans, LA, Memphis, TN, Detroit, MI, Boulder, CO, Little Rock, AR, Destin, FL, Bradenton, FL. ArtPrize 2016, 2017, 2018 Grand Rapids, MI. Annapolis, MD and Long Island, NY. Mr. Henry is registered in the Smithsonian Institution Art Inventories Catalog. In addition, Mr. Henry has been Drawing (Charcoal drawings), and Oil painting for many years. In November 2019, he exhibited one of his paintings "The Watchers" series, at the Circle Gallery in Annapolis, Maryland.
