Micaela de Vivero was born in Munich, Germany. As a child her parents moved to Quito, Ecuador, where she grew up. In college her curiosity took her to pursue art. After finishing her undergraduate studies in Studio Art at Universidad San Francisco de Quito, Ecuador, she took a trip to New York and certain parts of Europe. After that trip, she fell in love with traveling, and made it part of her life. She pursued graduate school in upstate New York at Alfred University USA, where she was awarded a full scholarship and graduated with an MFA in Sculpture. She has been a practicing artist since 1999. Micaela has been an artist in residence at the Bemis Center for Contemporary Art in Omaha, NE, USA in the Irish Museum of Modern Art in Dublin, Ireland; in the Chretzeturm in Stein am Rhein, Switzerland, in Koli Ryynaanen in Koli, Finland, in the Rondo Marienmühle in Graz Austria, at the Accoss Foundation in Yerevan, Armenia, at Frankfurter Kunstverein in Frankfurt, Germany, at CAMAC in Marnay-sur-Seine, France, the Institute for American Universities in Aix-En-Provence, France and the Wool Museum in Covilhã, Portugal. These trips have helped her to learn about differences, about people, about the world and herself. She now is Associate Professor of Studio Art at Denison University in Granville OH. She has been a Unesco-Aschberg grant recipient among others. She has exhibited her artwork in Ecuador, Brazil, Colombia, the USA, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, Switzerland, Finland, France, Austria and Armenia.
