Originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan. From a family of 9, the eldest of 7 children. Moved to her fathers' hometown Albion, MI when she was 11yrs old. It was at the age of 7 when she drew Matthew Henson one of the first known African American explorers for a school project that she and her family discovered she was pretty good at drawing. Her father is a well-known community portrait artist Jerome Washington. Growing up I would sneak into our father's office and look at his drawings, his collections of comic books for inspiration. I love drawing and painting faces, capturing the emotions and feelings in people. My first love was oils. I love the smell of oil paint, the mixing colors, and spreading or layering those brushstrokes onto a canvas, which made me feel so calm and relaxed. But in the meantime, I have grown to love acrylic, pen&ink;, watercolor, and still exploring. I've worked on murals and been in art competitions. Have been working on illustrations for a children's book project and at the moment an oil painting. I know what I like and don't like but willing to try. I follow people on social media and watch YouTube videos of artists for inspiration. My goal is to be more creative and sharing that creativeness with you.
