Maureen Nollette is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice encompasses installation, drawing, and sculpture. Through material, space, and form, her work blends divergent viewpoints on how traditional gender specific labor is regarded by a society. Nollette’s work has been featured in numerous venues including The 7th International Fiber Art Biennale Exhibition (Beijing, China), the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey (Summit, NJ), Art House Gallery (Atlanta, GA), Milk Gallery (New York, NY), St. Ann’s Warehouse, (Brooklyn, NY), The Strouse-Adler, Smoothie Foundation Building, (New Haven, CT), Barrett House Galleries, (Poughkeepsie, NY), Schoharie County Arts Council (Cobleskill, NY), Colorado State University (Fort Collins, CO), Grand Rapids Art Museum (Grand Rapids, MI), and Marygrove College Art Gallery (Detroit, MI). She is a 2016 artist in residence at Marble House Galleries. Nollette’s work is part of the following collections: Detroit Institute of the Arts (Detroit, MI), Yves St. Laurent (New York, NY), MGM Mirage Hotel (Las Vegas, NV), j. jill Group (Tilton, NH), along with private collections. Her work has been reviewed in ArtDaiy Newsletter, The Poughkeepsie Journal, The Dallas Morning News, Inview, among others. Nollette has given lectures and workshops at School of Visual Arts in NY, Kendall College of Art & Design in MI, and Grand Rapids Art Museum in MI to name a few. She was a Curatorial Board member at Urban Institute of Contemporary Art in MI; was thrice a Juror for Scholastic’s Art Awards in MI; her curatorial projects include (a)wake, a group show for women’s history month and LIMIT(less) at UICA, both in MI. Nollette received her MFA from The City University of New York in Queens, NY and currently resides in Grand Rapids, MI.
