Mary Sayre is a Marine Artist known for her sea-life and waterscape paintings. She illustrates her love of the ocean in oils on canvas and with an innovative art form of painting acrylics on marble and stone. Mary's unique style of painting on marble utilizes the crystalline veins within the stone to create an elegant yet organic canvas. Mary painted her first oil painting at the age of ten and found artistry as a path, pursuing her artistic passion, she attended Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids, MI. Mary's works are inspired by water, the rhythms and movements of the currents. Mary hopes to inspire people worldwide about marine life conservation through her work. Mary's paintings are exhibited and collected locally and internationally. Ocean Geographic Society selected Mary to participate as Artist for the Elysium Epic - Heart of the Coral Triangle Expedition. The expedition included the worlds finest artist, photographers, scientist and musicians to produce a record of the effects of climate change and to document the diversity and bio mass of the region. They had 49 expedition members in three vessels launch from three different ports in the Raja-Ampat archipelago, home to more than 1,400 species of fish and 75 percent of the worlds known coral species. The world premier exhibition and ocean talks opened in Beijing, April 22, 2019 followed by Shanghai, Chengdu, Shenzhen and Sydney, Australia. In April 2019 Mary participated as an Esteemed Speaker in ADEX, Singapore for a plastic free ocean. Mary presented her works and message "The Importance of Art in Images". A diver, sailor, and avid traveler, Mary has a unique perspective into an aqueous world of wonder. As a passionate artist and ocean advocate, Mary hopes to give a voice to those that can not speak for themselves and to promote conservation for a healthy ocean and a healthy planet.
