Mark Rospenda's meticulous nature always presents itself through his work. Physically cutting into or shredding drawings, parts are exchanged between them with some of the drawings evolving over a number of years. To Rospenda, this mimics the delicate, mutable nature of our thinking processes. The images that result are moments within a stream of thinking and forgetting — records of memories lost, found and transforming. Rospenda received a B.A. in Art from DePaul University in 2000, and a M.F.A. in Visual Art from the University of Chicago in 2006. He and his family moved from Chicago to South Bend in 2010 where he is Curator of Exhibitions and Collections at the South Bend Museum of Art. His work has previously been exhibited at Hanover College, Hanover, IN; Quincy Art Center, Quincy, IL; Hyde Park Art Center, Chicago, IL; and the Colfax Cultural Center, South Bend, IN; among other locations. The website for his work is markrospenda.com.
