Connections, relationships, unspoken languages…These bind us to the world around us. It’s in the small things: the little gestures, the details that combine to create the larger picture. I view artists as adventurers, investigators. We explore parts of life that intrigue us and relay our findings to the rest of the world. Some people trek that journey through music or literature, I happen to use oil paint, watercolor, or pigment ink. My adventures began young…my mother, an illustration artist and art teacher, always encouraged my three siblings and me to think creatively. My older sister did this mostly through singing and acting, my brother, through painting model figurines, and my younger sister, mainly through story and song writing. I did this through doodling on my math homework and daydreaming about how cool it would be to be two inches tall. This continued all the way through to my college education, where I graduated (surprise, surprise) with a BFA in Fine Arts, a concentration in Painting, and a minor in Spanish from Western Michigan University. I am now embarking on new escapades in my studio in the Metro-Detroit area and as a custom framer in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
