Kristen graduated from Wayne State University, earned her Master's at Saginaw Valley University, and has been an elementary art teacher in Chippewa Valley Schools, a northern suburb of Detroit since 1998. Her enthusiasm for teaching and a love of art inspires countless students and perpetuates her continuous growth both as a teacher and an artist. Kristen is also known for contributing larger-than-life Chinese zodiac murals to celebrate New Years with Metro Detroit's "Families with Children from China". Interests range from modern pop art to ancient architecture. Travel, nature and friendships spark Kristen’s creativity. Working with existing shapes, she re-interprets them in beautiful and interesting ways. Kristen’s functional “Natural and Geo” was displayed early in 2017 at the Anton Art Center for their "Michigan Annual XLIV" show in Mount Clemens, Michigan. She received an honorable mention from Arts, Beats and Eats in Royal Oak, Michigan summer 2016 in their first "Meters Made Beautiful" program. These adorable oil-based sloths are expected to be hangin’ in RO for the next seven years. This is her first entry into ArtPrize.
