Nature played a pivotal role in my childhood and is a significant influence in my artwork. From an early age, my parents instilled in me the natural beauties of woods, rocks, and the outdoors. I spent much of my youth interacting with nature, gathering stones, hiking through the woods, and observing the beauty that surrounds us. This influence of organic forms and raw natural materials serves as a foundation for my artwork. I repurpose dead or naturally fallen trees and roots, rocks, and the natural landscape in my artwork, to highlight their awe-inspiring organic qualities. It is vital for us to understand the importance of our natural surroundings, and the impact humans have on the sustainability of our ecological environment.
