

Kate graduated from Michigan State University’s Honors College with a Bachelor's in English and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in studio art, specializing in ceramics and sculpture. After graduating, Kate went to Denmark for a summer to work at the International Ceramics Research Center, then to Worcester, Massachusetts, to be an artist-in-residence at the Worcester Center for Crafts. In the summer of 2009 Kate began working and taking classes at Harvard Ceramics studio. Then, in May of 2010 Kate moved to Holland, Michigan and got involved teaching at the Holland Area Arts Council where she also managed the ceramics studio through mid-2016. In 2011 Kate moved to Grand Rapids where she has been involved with the creative community through the UICA, Dinderbeck, Fulton Street Market, the Avenue for the Arts and the Rapidian. Kate has been teaching ceramics classes for ten years and curating eclectic interdisciplinary exhibitions for the past five years. She currently is the manager and head instructor of the Cook Arts Center's Pottery Studio.
