During my lifetime, I have been able to delve into my creative side; volunteering to paint children’s murals, country paintings, designing custom wedding vow art pieces for couples and fulfilling special projects on consignment. I have developed a philosophy as an artist not to repeat the same art piece. I challenge myself to try something new and different. My first official art contest, “ARTPRIZE” was in Grand Rapids, Michigan. We lived in GR for seventeen years, sharing community values, culture, and opportunities for quality education. Those fond memories keep bringing me back to ARTPRIZE. The following year, unbeknownst to me, the art I entered into ARTPRIZE, was seen by two representatives from the Magic Valley Art Council from Twin Falls Idaho. I received a call inviting me to participate in their Magic Valley “Art & Soul” event. Fast forward to today, we now live in Twin Falls Idaho. Like Grand Rapids, Twin Falls cultivates the arts involving not only the community but attracting artist around the globe. This will be my fourth year participating as an artist in the Art & Soul Event. As an approved member of the Full Moon Gallery in Twin Falls and a member of the Magic Valley Arts Council, I have collaborated with other artist heightening my art awareness. My passion has been wildlife art and providing my salable art on mugs and canvas bags. Miss Bianca, this year’s ARTPRIZE entry is my first portrait. A rendition of a beautiful young black girl who won my heart and challenged me to do a portrait. A newborn passion to add to my portfolio, happily. Yes, the style or vision maybe opposites, but art provides joy, excites the imagination, opens avenues for expression and can boggle your mind. Next time you see an art piece, refresh your mind, press reset, reflect, enjoy, and maybe even go hummmm?
