Throughout my business career I imagined I would make art when I retired, and the reality came true in January of 2015. In my drawings and prints, I am drawn to unexpected or arresting images, whatever and wherever they may be -- ornate brownstone facades, pizza pies, human figures, and figurative plants. While I love drawing, the unpredictability of monoprints is more compelling to me. This print is meant to capture the absolute and visceral elements of time -- the numerals in the background which represent the absolute measurement of time, the plant material in the watch face which represents the passage of the seasons, and the blank watch face which reflects each of our individual perceptions of time. It was printed on handmade Taiwanese paper, which adds a textural element to the piece. It is framed with a black mat and simple black frame.
