John is a native of Michigan. He doesn't think of himself as an artist but more as a fabricator. He has only had art classes in High School, so no formal or structured training in art. He graduated from Western Michigan University with a BS in mechanical engineering. Only in the last four years has he decided to try his hand at sculpture. His first work started out to be an outdoor yard art piece which evolved into a three and a half year project. This is his first art project since he was a teenager over 50 years ago. The total feathers on the two birds is 8,994. Each feather was hand cut, shaped, edges sanded, and then applied to the birds. If you appreciate the intricacy of design, length of time, and God given talent it took to put together this copy of living birds. It falls far short of the design of a living God who created all things for our delight. Ecc. 9:10 Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might....
