Made Into Sin

John Katerberg's avatar John Katerberg

“Made into Sin” This painting is inspired by 2 Corinthians 5:21 “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” The payment for the sin of all mankind is represented by "SIN" painted in many languages, covering the body of Christ. The English word SIN is hidden to make the statement that the payment for sin was made for all people, not just the English speaking ones. My objective is to ask the viewer to consider excepting the free gift of forgiveness and salvation made possible by the payment made by Christ. The surface of the painting is covered with wet looking paint layers, representing the tears of the Father and the darkness of the hour. John T Katerberg
