Since retiring I’ve been able to find more time for doing my art. During this past year I’ve moved to something entirely new, fabric art. This began when a pastor at our church indicated that he’d like to have a funeral pall available for our congregation, with the idea that the pall reflect some of the beauty of our church’s windows and architecture. The piece I designed and created became my ArtPrize entry for this year. Before my recent retirement I was the Sr. Director of Content Design and Operations with Harper Collins Christian Publishing at Zondervan. I am a graduate of San Jose State University where I majored in fine arts, and graphics. I have worked in various design roles. Most of my art is inspired by places I have visited. I've worked in a variety of media—pen and ink, oil pastels, and colored pencils. My daughter Carolyn helped put together this years piece. She is an excellent seamstress and creative with fabrics and knitting. Her day-job is a RN at Saint Mary's.
