Half Dome, from Yosemite National Park is my seventh “painting with thread” piece. Yosemite is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited and was the inspiration for this work. God’s creation has often been my greatest inspiration. The Forever Garden is also a recent piece which I was asked to include here. My small garden at home was a great inspiration, especially thinking of what it would look like if every flower bloomed at the same time. Could this be heaven? ~~ Art as always been part of my life and I have been drawing and painting since kindergarten. I’ve worked in a number of different media, mostly pen and ink, water color, oil pastels and now fabric and thread. I started working with fabric and thread (floss) through the encouragement of my daughters, who gave me a book on painting with stitches, creating freestyle embroidery, which I like to think of as “painting with thread.” ~~ Before retiring I was the Sr. Director of Content Design and Operations with HarperCollins Christian Publishing at Zondervan. I am a graduate of San Jose State University, in California, where I majored in fine arts, and graphics. I have worked all of my career in various design roles. Most of my art is inspired by places I have visited.
