Joan Game uses a variety of media to create two and three-dimensional artwork, using watercolors, acrylics, ink, wire, found objects, and other materials. She paints, forms and builds her artwork and sculptures, using intuition and her formal art training. The play between the two brings about a delightful and pleasing unexpected result. Enjoying self-imposed challenges, Joan experiments and learns new ways of using various media. Working with color, she creates pieces that emanate a sense of joy and movement, and uses black and white to develop value patterns. Joan's artwork is described as colorful, joyful, light-hearted, touching, whimsical, beautiful and humorous! She has participated in a variety of art shows and projects in Michigan - William Bonifas Fine Art Center, Mostre D'Arte, Bay College West; Colorado - Public Art Planters in Boulder, First Fridays, and Spoken Word; Illinois - The Chocolate Factory Art Show; and in France with The ArtistTable; with work shown in local galleries and private collections. In addition, Joan created two public art projects in Iron Mountain, MI: Dig In and Bike On - a Kickstarter project where she designed bike racks depicting the local area's mining heritage, and The Bench Project - designing and coordinating the painting of wooden benches with scenes highlighting the natural surroundings. Currently, Joan writes a blog on her website at http://www.hanamele.com/ , where you can see some of her latest creations from her workplace, Hana Mele Art Studio, in Iron Mountain, MI.
