Jenny Walker: Artist I have been an artist for as long as I can remember, starting with my first master piece (so I thought) on my mother’s living room wall in Crayola crayon medium. I did however move on to a better use of my artistic talents when I attended Cass Technical High School where I majored in Fashion and Commercial Design. After Cass I attended Henry Ford Comm. College hoping to graduate with a degree in Commercial Design or Fine arts but never finished. In 1977 I met my future husband who gave me my first commissioned art work, a 4’x9’ canvas mural ,it took 8 month to complete while I worked full time( that’s why it took me “so long”). He married me in 1978 (was it the painting or true love? It must have been true love; we have been together 34 years and counting). In 1980 I discovered that my husband was also a very talented wood worker, so for the next 25 years we collaborated our talents and formed Walker and Walker Arts and Crafts . Mike would build the furniture; I would paint original works of art. We traveled the arts and crafts circuit, until it was no longer lucrative. For the next few years (about four) I worked retail while I was looking for my true calling. I lost my job due to the recession in 2008, and as luck would have it I was able to return to school (SC4) to pursue my dream of finishing school and receive a degree in Communication Design which included graphic design. While attending SC4 as a full time student, I worked as production and photo editor for the Erie Square Gazette newspaper, and designed event posters for the Art dept. In May 2011 I proudly marched in the graduation ceremony and received my diploma; an associate’s degree in Communication Design. After graduation I have designed a web site for a bagpiper in my area www.detroitpiper.com, all the photos and recordings were done by me. I have also painted on canvas a 1910 rendition of the Tunnel Depot in Port Huron Michigan, it was the first international depot, that was build in 1885 and later torn down in 1975. It is a 4’x7’canvas oil painting and is presently being displayed at our local gallery Studio 1219 in Port Huron, MI. Not only have I painted large canvases, I have also painted murals on walls which can be viewed on the Studio 1219 web site or my web site, walkerandwalkerartsandcrafts.com. I am an accomplished artist with the ability to visualize and execute custom works, either from photos or imagination. I am detail oriented; I can paint animals, people, and pet portraits, historical sites, planes, trains and automobiles or any combination of ideas large or small and always with a smile. My path is clear, I am Jenny: Artist
