Visual art has always been part of my life, in one way or another. Both parents were artists – my mother, a painter; my father an interior designer. Aesthetically pleasing surroundings were important to them. So the visual world in which I grew up was rich in color, texture, and all things artistic. As a child, I did a lot of drawing – primarily scenes and creatures from my imagination. While rendering the world around me wasn’t so much my thing, it was clear that art was one of my great passions. The other was music, and eventually that’s the direction I chose. For most of my adult life, I’ve identified primarily as musician and vocalist. You can check out my music here: www.jennifer-lee.net. Still, the urge to create in a visual medium remained compelling. And, in the last year, I’ve moved more toward bringing the visual art side to the forefront, where it can share top billing with my music. Participating in Art Prize is a big part of that. I’m so happy to have this opportunity!
