Jeffrey Augustine Songco (b. 1983) is a multi-media artist. Born and raised in New Jersey to devout Catholic Filipino immigrants, his artistic identity developed at a young age with training in classical ballet, voice, and musical theater. He holds a BFA from Carnegie Mellon University and an MFA from San Francisco Art Institute. He has exhibited throughout the USA including the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco and the Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts in Grand Rapids. He was a nominee for SFMOMA's 2012 SECA Art Award, and a finalist for the 2011 Asian Contemporary Arts Consortium Writing Fellowship, the 2011 Artists Wanted: Power of Self competition, and the 2007 Cut and Paste Digital Design Tournament. He is a featured artist in "Queering Contemporary Asian American Art" published in 2017 by University of Washington Press. His writings have appeared in Art21 Blog, Bad at Sports, The Huffington Post, Hyperallergic, and cultured.GR. He would like to be the US representative to the 2023 Venice Biennale. ArtPrize Nine marks Jeffrey's fifth year competing in ArtPrize, and first year receiving an ArtPrize Artist Seed Grant presented by the Frey Foundation.
