I was born right here in Grand Rapids, my parents are upholsterers and my two brothers are artists as well. Creativity was a big part of my family growing up, we relocated to Texas and I spent a large part of my life there. I spent my early career as an art framer and conservator, which led to diverse work in gallery and art delivery installation. I was always doing small commission artwork on the side, since I was a teen. I began my self-employed freelance art career in 2009. I worked primarily on commercial murals, graphic design, commission painting. My two brothers and I worked on collaborative projects for corporate events, design contracts, murals, and more under the name, Three Of One. In my mid-30's, I began working seasonally as a contract painter for companies that fabricate large scale sculptures for special events. When I returned to Michigan in 2017, I was at a crossroads of continuing a freelance muralist / contract painter career, or try something new. I met Josh Arnold in 2018, and I used some of the sculpture techniques I had seen in event sculpture and scenic art, adapted to smaller, more personal artwork: memorial sculptures of pets, primarily dogs. I have been focused on that endeavor for the past few years, perfecting my mixed media background into this new 3-dimensional project that has function and meaning for people dealing with pet loss grief. I look forward to continuing this direction, and also reconnecting with the land and people of west Michigan.
